Calavera 💀

I wanted to bring the bright colours and patterns of the Mexican Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) to this release. There’s something about the celebration of life that is just so captivating!

A little different to my previous skull designs, this one is adorned with a floral crown!

I individually handcraft every petal of each flower from molten glass in a 1200 degree flame. Once complete each stem is fired in a kiln to 'anneal', this strengthens the glass whilst cooling it. The whole process takes around 10 hours from glass rod to beautiful bloom. Checkout the listing video to see a little more of the process.

Each glass flower stem measures approximately 20cm long, with the heads of the flowers varying from 2cm-3cm depending on the style and design. Every flower is individually handmade, using stainless steel wire and molten glass. Each petal is added, one at a time, shaping the glass to create the perfect bloom before placing it into a kiln to anneal.

The stems are stainless steel, please do not attempt to trim the stems without sharp wire cutters, else the vibrations from cutting with insufficient tools may damage the petals. Please also refrain from bending or shaping the wire, this can cause the glass within the head of the flower to move causing cracks in the glass to occur.

Each glass flower is individually wrapped and secured in eco-friendly packaging.
